COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER NO. 2 JANUARY 2009

Ready, Set, Go!

The City of Malibu will install a new traffic signal at PCH and Corral Canyon Road January-March 2009. Although there will be some lane closures, all efforts will be made to minimize potential impacts to the public. More importantly, the new light will make it safer for PCH motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.

Palisades Bluffs Goes Into Rehab!

The much anticipated rehabilitation of the historic Palisades Bluffs is expected to begin in April 2009 between the McClure Tunnel and Santa Monica’s northerly city limits. 1,000-foot segments will be coned off to provide safe work areas for crews between 9am-1pm, Monday-Thursday. Temporary lane closures will allow traffic to flow, keeping PCH commuters happy. Less landslides and erosion equals improved PCH safety!

PCH Paving Gets Rave Reviews!

Commuters are enjoying the smooth ride on PCH as a result of the Caltrans paving project that was recently completed - and may we add, ahead of schedule! The surface overlay is made of old tires which is more durable and longer-lasting than conventional asphalt, requires less maintenance, is more cost-effective, reduces noise, and provides significant environmental benefits. It's also safer for motorists. Great job, Caltrans!

Bidding Adieu to Senator Kuehl

We are sad to say goodbye to Senator Sheila Kuehl and Deputy Laurie Newman who leave the California Senate due to term limits. Thanks to the Senator and Laurie for everything they did over the past 16 years to champion safety and traffic issues on PCH.
